The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand confirmed the conduct of the Third Batch of Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency Test scheduled on 15- 16 of November 2013. The announcement was posted at the embassy’s website and facebook page. The embassy informed that an official from the Department of Education, Bureau of Alternative Learning System will be coming to Bangkok for the briefing and the actual test. This year’s conduct of the A&E Test in Bangkok is now the third in a row since ALS have been implemented in Thailand in February 19, 2012.
The A&E Test being sponsored by the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, with the support of ARK Schoolhouse Bangkok and conducted by the Bureau of Alternative Learning System provides opportunities of children of Filipino OFW’s in Thailand and neighboring countries like Cambodia and Laos to take the examination so they could avail of an Elementary Certificate or Secondary Certificate which is equivalent to the Elementary School Diploma or Secondary School Diploma awarded to students who finish elementary and secondary in the formal educational system and qualifies the passer to enroll in Secondary (for Elementary passers) and in the Colleges or Universities (for Secondary passers).
In the Philippines, the conduct of A&E Test had been a success since its implementation. Not only poor students benefit from the program but also adults who were not able to complete their elementary or secondary education including Barangay officials and employees in different sectors. After passing the ALS –A&E Test, they are again motivated to go back to school and continue their education.
